Andy Warhol


Q1: Andy Warhol showed early artistic talent and studies commercial art at the Carnegie Institute of technology. In 1949 he then moved to New York and began a career in magazine illustration and advertising.1950 he became famous for his ink drawings of shoe advertisements. He had his first one man gallery exhibition as a fine artist on july 9th 1962. Warhol had many times where he succeeded and some where times were rough but he made it through and put on great show.

Q1: Annie grew up in waterbury, Connecticut and she took her first pictures while stationed in the philippines. In 1970, Annie returned to the U.S and started working for Rolling Stone magazine. In 1973 Annie's publisher named her chief photographer of  Rolling Stone magazine. Since 1983, Annie was a featured portrait photographer for Vanity Fair magazine. In 1980, Annie shot a photo of John Lennon and Yoko Ono and promised them it would be on the cover of Rolling Stones. In 1991, Annie mounted an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. In 2007, the Walt Disney Company hired her to do a series of photographs with celebrities in various scenes for the "Year of a Million Dreams" campaign. Annie Leibovitz has done much work with various things, and she has gone through some rough stages too but that hasn't stopped her from doing what she loves.

Q1a: Optical element(lens), chemical element(film), and mechanical element(camera itself).

Q2a: SLR: single-lens-reflex-camera where the photographer sees exactly the same image that is exposed to the film and can adjust everything by turning dials and clicking buttons.

Q3a: To increase or decrease the amount of lighting passing through the lens, you have to change the size of the aperture. 

Q4a: The length of the photo is determined by the shutter speed.

Q5a: You have to balance film speed, aperture, size and shutter speed.

Q6a: High film speed, less light goes into it.

Q7a:
1. The film is placed in developing agent that is actually a reducing agent. Reducing agent will convert all the silver ions into the silver metal.
2. Rinse the film with water, or use the "stop" bath. 
3. Fixer, dissolves only silver halide crystals, leaving silver metal behind.
4. Film is washed with water to remove all the processing chemicals, and the film strip is dried.

Q8a: Enlarger, processing chemicals and black and white paper.

Q9a: Final image is actually developed silver.
